Fire Pumps for Fire Fighting Systems
Fire pumps are the heart of any fire fighting water supply system - delivering required pressure and flow to hydrants, sprinklers, and other suppression devices during emergencies. Perfect HVAC Solutions supplies, installs, and services complete fire pump systems for buildings of all types and sizes across India.
Three-Pump Standard Configuration
Modern fire fighting systems use a three-pump configuration as recommended by NBC 2016 and NFPA 20:
- Jockey Pump (Pressurization Pump) - Small pump that maintains system pressure between 1-6 kW typically
- Main Electric Pump (Primary Fire Pump) - Full-capacity electric-driven pump as primary supply
- Diesel Engine Pump (Standby) - Same capacity diesel-driven pump for emergency power loss scenarios
This redundancy ensures fire fighting capability even during electrical outages, which often accompany fire emergencies.
Pump Types and Designs
We supply various fire pump configurations - end-suction centrifugal pumps for general use, vertical multistage for high-rise buildings, horizontal split-case for large flow applications, vertical turbine pumps for underground tank applications, and submersible pumps for special cases. Selection depends on water source configuration and required hydraulic performance.
Brand Partnerships
We are authorized dealers for premium fire pump manufacturers - Kirloskar Brothers, Mather Platt (Wilo group), CRI Pumps, SPP Pumps, Aurora Pump, and Kishor Pumps for electric pumps. Diesel engine pumps from Kirloskar, Mahindra, Cummins, and Cooper engines coupled with above pump brands. All pumps come with IS 12469 hydraulic test certification.
Pump House Engineering
Proper pump house design is critical. Our scope includes pump foundation design with vibration isolation, pump room ventilation per NFPA 20, fuel tank for diesel pump (typically 4-hour run capacity), exhaust ducting for diesel engines, suction and discharge piping with required strainers and valves, control panels with pressure switches and automation logic, jockey pump pressure tank, and complete electrical work.
Hydraulic Performance Testing
Per IS 12469, every fire pump requires hydraulic performance testing - verification of rated flow, rated pressure, shut-off pressure, and 150 percent flow capacity. We conduct factory acceptance tests at the manufacturer, plus on-site performance verification during commissioning. Documentation includes pump curve, electrical readings, and discharge pressure data.
Annual Testing and Service
Fire pumps require regular maintenance and annual testing. Our service programs include weekly auto-test runs, monthly running tests, annual full performance testing, fuel quality checks for diesel pumps, electrical system testing, and complete documentation for fire department compliance.
